"Seven villages like seven swans"

In Kaštela, history comes alive through its seven castles, once family homes of noble families. Each castle has its own unique story and character, making them a must-visit destination for history buffs and culture enthusiasts alike. Here are a few highlights of the seven castles:

- Kaštel Sućurac – Podvorje The oldest defense tower in Kaštel Sućurac, the cobblestone compound forms a courtyard of palaces and boasts a high Gothic-style mansion and traditional country house. An archaeological exhibit is also displayed on the main square.

- Kaštel Gomilica – Kaštilac A unique example of the Dalmatian character, the fortress of Kaštilac is an architectural monument that is still home to locals. The entrance is protected by a tower with holes for cannons and guns, and is connected to the mainland by a long bridge on arches.

- Kaštel Kambelovac – Cambi In 1517, brothers Jerolim and Nikola Cambi built a cylindrical-shaped castle (the only one in Kaštela) on an islet to protect themselves and residents of Lažan and Kruševik settlements. The castle was later connected to the mainland by filling and leveling.

- Kaštel Lukšić - Castle Vitturi Built by the sea to protect their families and peasants of the Ostrog village on the Balovan reef, Nikola and Jerolim Vitturi's castle was completed as a lavish palace in 1564. It consists of a residential two-story building, two defensive keeps, and a drawbridge that was later replaced with a one-arc stone bridge. The castle is now a city museum.

- Kaštel Stari – Cipicco Composed of a fortress and palace built on a cliff, Cipicco Castle was once separated from the mainland by a ditch and connected by a mobile bridge. After a fire, the castle was rebuilt in Renaissance style and now features a yard, arcades, and balcony with the family coat of arms. The Church of St. Joseph from the 17th century is located next to the castle.

- Kaštel Novi - Cipicco tower The Cipicco tower is a square-shaped settlement surrounded by a defense wall and sea. The parish church of St. Peter, built on the foundations of a 13th-century church, houses a rich treasure of silver and ecclesiastical clothing.

- Kaštel Štafilić – Rotondo The Rotondo fortress at the entrance of Kaštel Štafilić was once used for leaving the village on ships during times of danger. The emblem of the Stafileo family who built the castle is engraved on the southern entrance. The unfinished Nehaj tower is a favorite among artists for its sailing-like appearance during the tide.
